Rio De Janeiro

There can be few more stunning sights than arriving in Brazil’s unofficial capital by sea. Take a people-watching stroll along the golden beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema. Ride a cable car high above the city and take in the twin landmarks of Sugar Loaf Mountain and Corcovado with its giant statue of Christ the Redeemer. Then seek out unique gifts with a difference as you shop the city streets that seem to ring with the rhythm of a samba.

A short stroll along the Avenida Maritime promenade will take you to the lovely old quarter around Plaza de Espana, which has a 16th century fountain and town hall, a magnificent Renaissance church and a handicrafts market where you can pick up distinctive pottery and snack on local delicacies.

The island’s most spectacular volcanic crater, Caldera de Taburiente, is crammed with rare animal and plant life and has been designated a national park, while its night skies are so clear that a major astrophysical observatory has been built at Roque de los Muchachos. It promises unique cruises for travellers with high expectations. We offer the perfect combination of individual service and exclusive programmes, excellent cuisine and elegant furnishings.

Ship info

Europa 2

Personal service, a high gastronomic standard, individual travel programmes and excellent interiors: you will experience this comfort on the newcomer to the Hapag-Lloyd Cruises fleet in a modern and casual atmosphere. Upon completion of her construction and as our second flagship, the EUROPA 2 will be heading for the most attractive destinations in the world as from May 2013.

The route concept concentrates on four regions: Western Mediterranean, Eastern Mediterranean, Arabian Peninsula and Asia. In fulfilment of the wishes of our guests these will be shorter, mostly seven-day voyages. Many routes will be offered on different dates and can be combined flexibly to form longer, fantastic stays on board.

The design concept follows current trends and is a successful mixture of casual and stylish ambience with state-of-the-art technology. Hardly any other ship offers more space per guest than the EUROPA 2 - after all, well-being is also measured in square metres. For this reason it goes without saying that all the suites on board the EUROPA 2 have a spacious veranda. Life on board sets its own standards: more lifestyle and less cruise rituals contribute towards a more informal atmosphere. The low number of passengers of at the most 516 guests and the superior crew/guest ratio ensure that exclusiveness and relaxation are guaranteed from the very first moment onwards.

Besides culinary diversity and luxurious surroundings, the focus of the EUROPA 2 is on wellness, fitness and a multifaceted entertainment programme. All these features can be enjoyed in a relaxed atmosphere and, of course, at the unique high standard that you expect of a ship that proudly bears the name EUROPA.

Experience the new way of enjoying luxury in a relaxed ambience. We look forward to greeting you on board MS EUROPA 2!
