Take a boat ride along Amsterdam’s charming canals past sturdy old houses and under quaint bridges. Visit one of the city’s superb museums housing many of the Dutch Masters’ most outstanding works or learn about Anne Frank and the city’s Jewish heritage. Or, journey into the countryside and see historic windmills and the fascinating porcelain works in Delft.

Lerwick is about 210 miles (340 km) north of Aberdeen, 230 miles (370 km) west of Bergen in Norway and 230 miles (370 km) south east of Tórshavn in the Faroe Islands.

Torshaven

The Faroe Islands is an archipelago of 18 islands halfway between Britain and Iceland. From the capital, Torshavn we can enjoy tours to outlying coastal villages, to the nearby island of Hestur or to the spectacular birdcliffs of Vestmanna. Fresh sea air, open spaces and beautiful woodland make one of the smallest capital cities in the world a delight to visit.

The Town of Seyoisfjordour is regarded by many as one of Iceland's most picturesque towns, not only due to its impressive environment but also because nowhere in Iceland has a community of old wooden buildings been preserved so well as here. For those in search of the unexpected, the surprises begin in Akureyri — Iceland's second-largest city.

The air is startlingly clean, and ideal for communing with nature, Iceland style -- fjord fishing, river rafting and whale watching. On its northwestern peninsula, the rock formations that make up the fjords date back 14 million years. Cruise & Maritime Voyages

Cruise & Maritime Voyages

Cruise & Maritime Voyages is Britain’s leading independent cruise line and 2017 heralds our eighth year of operating cruises from a choice of 11 UK ports and our fifth year from Fremantle, Australia.

Cruise & Maritime Voyages is part of the CMV Holdings London Travel & Leisure Group with offices in Purfleet, Essex, UK, Sydney, Australia, Ft Lauderdale, Florida, USA and Munich, Germany.  CMV is also a member of the prestigious global industry body, CLIA (Cruise Lines International Association).

We believe our smaller more intimate ships offer a leisurely and traditional home away from home country house style of cruising with the emphasis very much on personal service and going that extra mile. That’s why over 40% of our passengers cruise with us again and again and why over 95% of our guests are satisfied and enjoy their cruising experience with CMV.  Our expanding fleet has currently five small-to medium ships: Astor, Magellan, Marco Polo, Astoria and debuting in June 2017, the Columbus.

With the Astor 2018 Season we will be offering long distance voyaging from London to Fremantle via Auckland, Sydney and Adelaide, including 13 itineraries that allow guests to explore Western Australia’s South West and Bali in Indonesia. Astor will visit Melbourne and Adelaide as well before returning to London via South Africa. The stylish Astor offers a great opportunity to experience the bygone halcyon days of long distance sea travel. This exquisite 620 passenger ocean liner represents a new era in premium style cruising.

Columbus - CMV

The impressive Columbus cruise ship joined the Cruise & Maritime fleet in June 2017. This splendid medium-sized cruise ship enjoys a sterling reputation on the British cruise market and will offer the same traditional cruising style that CMV is known for. Whether you are treating yourself to a mini cruise or embarking upon a once-in-a-lifetime world cruise, travelling with Columbus is sure to create memories.

Combining spacious surroundings and friendly service with stylish entertainment and delicious cuisine, Columbus is the perfect choice for those looking for the ultimate experience and comfort. Offering a wide range of on-board experiences including seven different lounges and bars, two speciality coffee and tea shops, and two deck bars, this ship gives guests ample choice to tailor their leisure time around their preferences. You will never be short of amusement aboard this ship cruise, as our Dome Observatory, Nightclub and Palladium Show Lounge host nightly performances by the talented Columbus show team and renowned guest stars. There is even a large floor for ballroom dancing!

However, she still retains a feel of intimacy and personal attention when compared with the ‘mega’ resort style cruising lines built today. The spacious surroundings on-board mean that you’ll always find a quiet retreat where you can put your feet up and simply take in the ocean views. Whether you choose to seek sanctuary with a good book in the library, get creative in the new Crafter’s Studio, get energised at the fully-equipped gym or unwind with a relaxing massage, ‘me-time’ doesn’t get better than this.

At 63,786 GRT (Gross Registered Tonnage), with a draft of 8.20 metres and overall length of nearly 250 metres, Columbus was purpose-built for deep sea ocean cruising, which we believe makes it ideally suited to the type of exciting scenic cruise programme we operate. She underwent an extensive refit in August 2015 and will be upgraded further before the start of her Cruise and Maritime fleet maiden season.

Columbus has 775 passenger cabins including 64 deluxe balcony cabins and junior suites, which have been specially designed for our customers who have been requesting more balcony accommodation. Following the successful trial on board Magellan, 150 cabins will also be allocated for solo cruisers as we recognise the needs of single travellers. Each cabin is fitted with high-quality furnishings and facilities, so you can truly relax at the end of each day of discovery.

Cruising aboard the Columbus ship offers not only a life of leisure on-board, but also countless opportunities to explore some of the world’s most fascinating destinations. At each port, you will find a wide range of excursions specially selected to show you the best of every shore. Find exclusive cruise offers on Columbus voyages today!
